Overview

The Admore AB409-U is a premium 13-amp single-gang switched socket from the Metal Series: Black Nickel line, finished in a screwless gloss-black stainless-steel plate. It combines a standard UK Type G (BS 1363) 3-pin outlet with an integrated dual USB charging module — one USB-A and one USB-C port — for charging phones, tablets and small accessories directly from the wall without a wall-wart.

USB charging

The on-plate label printed next to the USB ports reads “2.1A — 5V”. The two USB ports (1× USB-A + 1× USB-C) share a single 5-volt, 2.1-ampere supply between them — meaning each port can deliver up to 2.1 A on its own, but when both ports are used together the total output remains 5 V 2.1 A shared between the two devices. This is sufficient for most phones, tablets and small Bluetooth accessories on standard 5-volt charging; the AB409-U does not support fast-charging standards such as USB Power Delivery (PD) or Quick Charge (QC).

Switching & outlet

A side-mounted single-pole rocker switch isolates the live conductor to the outlet when in the off position. The 3-pin UK Type G socket meets BS 1363-2 — including the mandatory child-protection shutter system that opens the live and neutral apertures only when the longer earth pin is inserted first. Both the rocker and the outlet insert are finished in matt black against the gloss-black plate.

Construction

The faceplate is pressed stainless steel with a glossy black-nickel-style electroplated finish. The screwless design hides the fixing screws beneath the plate for a clean architectural look. Internally the unit uses copper pillar terminals with captive M3.5 screws — captive screws stay attached to the terminal as you wire, which speeds installation and prevents lost hardware behind the back-box.

Installation

The AB409-U mounts flush into a standard 1-gang UK BS 4662 metal or plastic back-box with the conventional 60.3 mm fixing centres. Minimum back-box depth is 25 mm. Terminals accept up to 2× 2.5 mm² stranded copper conductor per terminal. The earth terminal is captive and clearly marked.
